For Lease

International renowed artist Virginia Neary Carrithers is offering her artists retreat to rent in the majestic canyons of the Cordillera in Northern Patagonia, Argentina...

On the banks of the Rio Trocoman engulfed by the imposing landscape of northern Patagonia, Ginny built her studio. This enchanting 3,000 acre property where she resided for many years helped her heal and inspired her to continue painting. Now no longer able to enter the property because of health reasons and its remoteness, this rustic yet elegant home is for lease short or long term...

Take a step back in time and be inspired by experincing life completely off the grid. Horses are a way of life here and the primary means of transport. Live and cook by fires (gas stove available), hot showers by wood burners, candlelight only. Enjoy the natural world with local trekking to the high mountain lakes bordering Chile, pick up a paint brush, pen those awe inspiring thoughts, or just snuggle in with your loved ones and share this humbling opportunity...

Also offered: CHACRA NUESTRA

In the Andes, Province of Neuquen, Northern Patagonia, there is a special place out of time in today's world. With limited access (mainly horse), it is a small part of Estancia Ranquilco - a meadow (mellin) of 100 acres with many tall trees and lush pasture.

The Offering is a 2 bedroom house with bathroom and separate bath house. Indoor and outdoor oven as well as gas stove and fireplace. Electric light, music, radio, via solar panel. Two gardens & green house, for greens all season, fresh eggs. Trout ponds.

There is a full time gaucho living at the chacra, whose house is out of sight at 250 meters away. This fellow will gather the horses and put them out, help with saddling and some guiding.

Included in the offering of rental are horses and saddles and basic food, garden produce, sheets and towels. Full kitchen.

This would be an excellent place for a family of three or four to really get away from it all and see how to live in horse back culture. Nothing but pristine open country with endless miles of riding and catch and release large rainbow trout fly fishing in a world class, pure, big river.

Our suggestion of 3 weeks to one month for the ideal stay (longer term upon request and approval of Ranquilco directors)

Horses: There will be included horses suited to the level of experience of each rider from Expert to Novice (all welcome)

Addition:  Activities might include a Asado at the Casco at Ranquilco (15 minute walk from chacra) or help with a cattle work.  Pack trips to high mountain lakes with overnight camping. Help with the training & handling of the colts, or help in the gardens.

Season: From November thru April. Summer months mostly sunny with rare rain shower.

Access: Via Airport Neuquen then bus or taxi to Zapala where guests will be picked up and driven to the trail head where guide, horses and pack mule will be waiting for 2 ½ hour ride to Chacra.
